Founded in 2005, Elm City ChamberFest Junior Session is a two-week intensive chamber music program for intermediate to advanced string players aged 8 -13 (entering 8th grade in fall of 2017). Classes meet weekdays from 9:00 – 5:00 at the Celentano Museum Academy in New Haven, CT (corner of Prospect and Canner streets). Some carpooling options are available. Please inquire.

Students participate in weekly chamber music performances, daily coachings, weekly private lessons, guest artist and faculty master classes and string orchestra. Additionally, students can choose from a variety of electives and workshops including Jazz, Klezmer, Theater Improvisation, Viola for Violinists, Choir, Yoga and Alexander Technique.  The primary focus during lessons is on ensemble playing and repertoire, however, there are opportunities for solo repertoire with guest artist master classes.

Unfortunately, housing in the Yale dormitories is not available for students under the age of 13. Some carpooling options are available. Additionally, there are a number of local hotels in New Haven that are walking distance or a short drive from the Yale campus that are available where out-of-area students can stay with their parents or legal guardian.
